Sunday is the Chrisitan Sabbath because:
The disciples met on the first day of the week in honor of the resurrection. (John 20:19)
Sunday cannot be the Christian Sabbath because:
IT IS WRITTEN that the disciples met on the first day of the week out because they were afraid of the Jews, (John 20:19) and not because they were honoring the resurrection. They could not be celebrating the resurrection because they did not believe that Christ would resurrect. (Luke 24: 1; 23:56)
Sunday is the Chrisitan Sabbath because:
Sunday is the Chrisitan Sabbath because: Eight days after (John 20:26) his the Jesus' first encounter with his disciples (John 20:19), Jesus held a meeting with the disciples the first day of the week or Sunday.
Sunday cannot be the Christian Sabbath because:
IT IS WRITTEN that eight days later (John 20:26) at the sunset (Luke 24:29) Jesus met with his disciples and blessed the bread (Luke 24: 30,31). This meeting happened at the beginning of the second day of the week because the Bible teaches that the duration of a day is from sunset to sunset. (Gen 1:13, Neh 13:19)
Sunday is the Chrisitan Sabbath because:
Christians met on the first day of the week (Sunday) and not on Saturday to celebrate the Lord's Supper. (Acts 20: 7)
Sunday cannot be the Christian Sabbath because:
IT IS WRITTEN that the early Christians were together in the temple and breaking the bread every day. (Ac 2:46) On this particular occasion, Paul extended his speech until Sunday night which is the second day of the week according to the Bible. (Acts 20: 7)
Sunday is the Chrisitan Sabbath because:
Christians collected an offering every first day of the week. (1 Cor. 16.1,2) The collection of offerings is part of the ecclesiastical liturgy and this happened on a Sunday.
Sunday cannot be the Christian Sabbath because:
IT IS WRITTEN that this instruction is about saving an offering for the poor is not the same as collecting offerings for the Church. It is understood from the text that the offering ceased when Paul arrived. (1 Cor. 16: 1,2)
Sunday is the Chrisitan Sabbath because:
John was in vision on the Lord's day and this day is the first day of the week. (Rev. 1:10)
Sunday cannot be the Christian Sabbath because:
IT IS WRITTEN The only Lord's Day recognized by Scripture is the seventh day of the week. (Luke 6: 5) In addition, John knew that:
"The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God" (Ex. 20:10; Deut. 5:14)
Creator the Lord Jesus had instituted the Sabbath in the beginning by resting on the seventh day of the week, by blessing and hallowing it (Gen. 2:2, 3; Ex. 20:11).
Lord had called the seventh-day Sabbath "my sabbaths" (Ex. 31:13; Lev. 19:3; Isa. 56:4; Eze. 20:12, 13, 16, 20, 21, 24; 22: 8, 26; 23:38; 44:24), while referred to ceremonial sabbath as "your sabbaths" or the people's sabbath.
Nehemiah referred to it as "thy holy sabbath" (Neh. 9:14)
"The Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath" (Mat. 12:8)
During the Crucifixion: "They returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment" (Luke 23:56).
By considering all the Biblical Context, it is clear that Revelation 1:10 must refer to the same day.
Sunday is the Chrisitan Sabbath because:
We celebrate Sunday because Christ rose from the dead on the first day of the week on. (John 20: 1)
Sunday cannot be the Christian Sabbath because:
We would have more reasons to keep Friday in honor to his sacrifice.
However, IT IS WRITTEN that:
Jesus indeed rested in the tomb on Sabbath from his redemptive work according to the commandment. (Luke 26:56)
His disciples rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment. (Luke 23:56)
We keep his commandments because we love him (John 14:15)
Jesus called himself the Lord of the Sabbath (Mat 12:8; Mark 2:28; Luke 6:5)
Sunday is the Chrisitan Sabbath because:
Sunday is mentioned eight times in the New Testament and this fact proves that Sunday was the Christian Sabbath of the early Church.
Sunday cannot be the Christian Sabbath because:
IT IS WRITTEN that the Bible mentions Sabbath observance more than 80 times through the book of Acts. (Act 13:13,42,43; 16:11; 17:1; 18:4,5-11) The seventh day also continued to be observed and referred as the Sabbath or rest, while Sunday is merely referred as the first day of the week with no distinctive status.
Sunday is the Chrisitan Sabbath because:
The Lord's Day was changed without the need of an explicitly command in the Scriptures.
Sunday cannot be the Christian Sabbath because:
IT IS WRITTEN that:
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. (Col 2:8)
Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Note: There are many "theological" commentators on the Internet that take non-hermeneutical positions. They claim that Jesus transfer the day of the Lord to Sunday, Jesus did not die on a Friday and the disciples rested on a ceremonial Sabbath, John was in vision not in Sabbath, but in the day of judgment, and that the Sabbath was abolished on the cross. In response to all of these non-hermeneutical doctrines we say:
"Unless I am convinced by Scripture and plain reason - I do not accept the authority of the popes and councils, for they have contradicted each other - my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and I will not recant anything for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. God help me. Amen." -- Martin Luther
